Need to see a GP or nurse in the evening or weekend?
GPs in central Durham, Chester-le-Street and Derwentside are working together to offer extra GP appointments from 6.30pm on weekday evenings as well as Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Just call your surgery to book any available evening and weekend GP appointments. These appointments are held at Tanfield Surgery. To book an 'Extended hours' appointment please contact the surgery Monday-Friday 08.30-5.30. When our surgery is closed, please call 111 to access these clinics.
From April – October this year, 2002 patients did not attend their appointments
This resulted in 334 hours of wasted time and could have created 133 more clinics
If you are unable to attend an appointment please call 593580 and leave a message for our reception team.
If you are over 65 or have a chronic disease your doctor would like you to have a flu vaccination. Please contact the surgery for an appointment
Important Surgery Notice
The surgery phone lines will be closed from 12.00-12.30 daily.
Our main reception desk will remain open from
08.30-5.30pm every day and will not close
A dedicated number will be available during the time our lines are closed in case of emergency
From 1st February the cut off time for the duty Dr will be 12:00
To help improve our appointment system the Doctors have requested information when you call for a duty Doctor. Our reception team will need to ask the reason for your call so they can direct you to the correct clinic or appointment. We thank you for your support
When calling the surgery for results and hospital transport please ensure you are calling between 1pm-4pm Monday to Friday
The surgery will be closed for staff training on Thursday 19th April from 12.00. We will be open again from 8.30am on Friday 20th April. If you require non-urgent medical attention while we are closed please call 111. For all medical emergencies please call 999.
